This isn’t will trying to explain to Tessa his true feelings after treating her awfully or Jace explaining the depth of his feelings to clary while believing that there could never be a world in which they could be together. They simply needed to work through some stuff. Why? Because that’s the beauty of their relationship. What got through her defenses was James saying he’d been at the train station platform, James revealing the globe necklace’s secret were what really got through her defenses.

James coming to Paris, James saying ‘I love you’ for the first time, James asking Cordelia to come home or saying ‘that house means nothing to me without you in it’ or saying ‘I thought of you all the time’ didn’t really sway Cordelia or make her believe him.

And that’s why he relies on his past actions to make her understand that he really loves her. That’s part of why he’s also giving her space instead of actively trying to win her back. Anything new that James does, including a ‘last hours’ speech or a ‘every thorn for you’ speech would sound so empty to Cordelia. Jordelia is a rare ship in which the character was able to totally rely on their past actions and gestures alone to win back the other person. So in chot, James didn’t need to make grand gestures or speeches. (hence the lack of angst) when it came to jordelia, everything that needed to be done was already done, before chot. The characters' relationships were dealt in a very realistic and mature way, unlike what we usually see in tsc books (hence the hate on Tumblr I suppose) cot was too realistic. but then I decided I didn't want to end up hating a book id spent two years waiting for so I really tried to understand why cc did it the way she did and this is my conclusion: then I saw all the neg posts on Tumblr about all the flaws and then I was upset too. When I was first done with cot, I was feeling emotional bc it was over and I missed the characters. and this is really really long but I'm dying to discuss 😅 and this is all just what I feel they're my otp 🥺 and I'm dying to discuss them with someone and I'm staying off of social bc I have a huge exam next month, so I thought I'd ask you. I wanted to know what you all thought of chain of thorns with respect to Jordelia.
